“Let’s play a game” she whispered. “I’ll be the queen and you’ll be the pawn”.
Tracy and I have been busy all week with work. She’s a production manager in a media outfit while I’m a freelance photographer. We met on the set of a major brand shoot for Valentine’s day last year, and since then, it has been a wonderful experience.
When I approached her, she looked me up and down like the way girls look at you when they’re checking how much you’re worth. Well, I wouldn’t say my net worth was something to brag about, but I was doing well within my rights.
I owned my own studio and the only reason I was called in on this shoot was that a long-time friend asked for favor as his photographer had bailed on them the previous day. Man! Was I glad about that? My luck was about to change because I had just met the love of my life.
The venue for the shoot was a luxury apartment somewhere on Victoria Island. You could say the valentine’s story we were shooting must’ve sparked something in me that made me make a move, or that the dimmed, automated lights the apartment provided set the mood for me to walk up to her. Or that the very comfy and warm atmosphere gave me the confidence to muster up the courage to say my first “hello”.
Whatever it was, I was glad we were there, in that apartment together. So when she agreed to go on a date with me on Valentine’s Day, I felt like the luckiest guy on earth. So we made it a trend to always spend every chance we got at The Double H luxury apartments. Birthdays, game nights, our usual romantic movie nights. If she wasn’t planning one, I was.
We found out that The Double H luxury homes had not just one apartment (where we had met), but 5 apartments located in the heart of Lagos. So we toured every one of them, from The Agnes & Hafej located at Bourdillon Court Estate, Chevron, to The Izu & The Clarita located at Cadogan Estate, Osapa London, and the prestigious, Sunny & Patience apartments located at Eko Pearl Towers, Eko Atlantic City. My absolute favorite, and where I’m writing from at the moment.
What’s the big deal with these short-let homes, you ask? They’re fully automated, meaning you don’t have to lift a finger when you step in, to when you leave. There’s a private cinema — this is one of my favorite things about the apartments because I’m a movie lover. There’s a private chef if you feel the need to give yourself a treat. You could even request a private chauffeur pick-up, 24-hour electricity, 24-hour security and so much more. I cannot even begin to name them.
It’s been a year now, and I must say it’s the best experience we’ve had. With my lovely Tracy, every day feels like Valentine’s, and I don’t ever want to stop feeling this way. I want to ask Siri to help me set the mood for a romantic proposal.
This is the night I ask her to let me spend the rest of my life with her. I’ll tell you all about it when I write again.
